This local dive is so good you wish it would stay local! Wildly popular spot that’s been around forever. The Curry Chicken Noodle Soup is to die for. The noodles are the thick yellow kind. The Curry Beef Noodle Soup comes with the thin yellow noodles (but you can always ask for the other). There’s a little wait time on weekends, but the turnaround for tables is good because the service is so fast. The take-out option here (pick-up only) is thriving and also fast and accurate.
Taste Good Malaysian is an amazing small restaurant! Seating is a bit limited and it can feel very crowded, but the food is amazing and the vibe is really cool. The menu is gigantic so it’s very hard to decide what to order. My favorite thing from here is the Dry Curry Beef Rendang Noodles, which features huge chunks of braised beef that falls apart in your mouth and absorbs all the curry perfectly. The roti is another thing that you need to get, it comes with chicken curry. The Sambal Beef is for people who are willing to try more strongly flavored things, the flavor was intense with umami and was a really good flavor. Really cool place, don’t judge the shabby exterior when you come. It does taste good 🤤 I’m writing this review when traveling in Turkiye and missing great Asian food in NYC. I was introduced to this by a Malaysian friend and It was my first time trying Malaysian food so I don’t have anything to compare with but I am a foodie and I know when the food is good. Everything we ordered roti, kangkung & pork rib curry was all tasty. We came at the end of the day where they were about to close so the ppl who work there were just hanging out and it was cool to hear Malaysian language. It feels like you are not nyc anymore. That is when you know the food is legit authentic. Can’t wait to try more.
